Yvette McDowell

Yvette McDowell has excelled in various careers as a firefighter/paramedic, city prosecutor, trial attorney, and cannabis law consultant. She strives to educate leaders about the cannabis industry, and works with government agencies on proposed regulation directly relating to the industry and on the creation and correct implementation of social equity plans. Yvette is currently serving a second two-year term on the California Cannabis Industry Association’s Board of Directors, and co-chairs the Diversity, Inclusion and Social Equity Committee. Under her leadership, this committee produced a document that seeks to provide alternative language to common terms used in the cannabis industry that are racially divisive. This document has been endorsed by the Los Angeles Bar Association’s Cannabis Division. Yvette has always exemplified a long-standing commitment to the betterment of the community through service guided by respect and justice. She demonstrates this commitment through active participation in numerous professional organizations including the International Cannabis Bar Association as co-chair, Minority Cannabis Business Association, Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Cannabis Section, Orange County Women Leaders in Law Enforcement as co-chair, and is a Southern California speaker for Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP). Her devotion to justice and equity is unmatched in her efforts to aid in developing fair regulations that benefit every aspect of the community from economic growth to compassionate treatment of those in need.
